For the 2018 revamp of the park, Disney's Imagineering planned an adaptive BGM score for Hollywood Boulevard and the Hub of Hollywood Studios. As you enter the park, this swing music puts you firmly in the 1930's jazz era, but as you move toward the iconic Chinese Theatre and the hub, the sound of the score transports you into the 1940's and the heydays of Hollywood.
To achieve this seemless effect, two separate arrangements of each song were needed, complete with two separate orchestras and orchestrations. Imagineering hired renowned Big Band arranger Chris McDonald and together we created and executed a plan to arrange, record and mix this ambitious (and toe tapping) background music score.
